Fireplaces, fire pits and second homes
A lot of East End houses are used on weekends and through the shoulder seasons, and many have both an indoor fireplace and an outdoor fire pit or patio. A pallet delivered once keeps the house stocked for months. These four deliver free:
- 30 Mega Bag pallet, $899.90: 30 sealed Mega Bags, enough for regular fires at a weekend home, at the best price per bag.
- 15 Mega Bag pallet, $599.90: 15 Mega Bags, a tidy choice for a garage, pool house or rental.
- 1/2 cord pallet, $799: 64 cu ft of loose splits for year-round homes that burn most evenings.
- 1/4 cord pallet, $499: 32 cu ft for a covered rack by the patio.
Wood that lights the first time
If you only come out for the weekend, the last thing you want is a pile of wet logs. Our mixed hardwood (oak, hickory, maple, cherry, birch and walnut) is kiln-dried to under 15% moisture and cut to 16 inches, so it catches quickly and burns with less smoke. The sealed Mega Bags keep out the damp ocean air between visits. Every split is heat-treated to the USDA standard of 160 F at the core for 75 minutes, so it carries no bugs and is legal to move across state lines.
How much to order
For a couple of fires a weekend, a Mega Bag pallet usually goes a long way. For a year-round home on the North Fork with a stove or insert, a 1/2 cord is the better match. Our cord of firewood guide and firewood calculator help you work out the right size. Before a beach fire, check the rules in your town, since East End towns set their own permits.
