Dry wood in salt air
Damp ocean air is hard on an open woodpile. Our wood is oak, hickory, maple, cherry, birch and walnut, kiln-dried to under 15% moisture, and the sealed Mega Bags keep it that way until you open them. It is also heat-treated to the USDA standard of 160 F at the core for 75 minutes, so no bugs ride along to your property.
Sizing for capes, cottages and fire pits
The classic Cape house often has one central fireplace and not much spare storage, and many seasonal cottages have none at all. For a few fires a month or an evening at a backyard fire pit, a few Mega Bags or Boxes at a time is often enough. Burning most nights in a year-round home near Wareham? Look at the 1/2 cord pallet. The cord of firewood guide explains how the sizes compare, and many Cape towns have rules on outdoor and beach fires, so check with your town first.
