Kiln-dried matters more in PA than almost any other state in the country, because PA is ground zero for the spotted lanternfly. The active PA spotted lanternfly quarantine is currently statewide (effective March 2024) per Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Allegheny and Beaver counties around Pittsburgh are also in the quarantine. The PA Department of Agriculture issues quarantine permits for any business moving firewood across county lines. Emerald ash borer is statewide. Untreated cordwood from a local cutter cannot legally be moved across county lines inside the lanternfly zone. Our heat-treated wood, certified to USDA APHIS phytosanitary spec, ships with quarantine compliance documentation built in.
