Firewood Flex
Firewood Delivery in Union County, NJ (Summit to Scotch Plains)
Kiln-dried hardwood for Summit, Westfield, Cranford and the rest of Union County. Free UPS Ground on packaged sizes, scheduled pallet freight to commuter-town driveways.
Union County heats a lot of fireplaces in a very small footprint. Summit, Westfield, Cranford and Springfield stack pre-war colonials and mid-century capes onto quarter-acre lots, and most of them have a chimney that goes to work the first cold week of October. What the county does not have is room for a sloppy wood pile behind the garage. Buyers here want dry wood, delivered on a schedule, in a size that fits one bay or a rack on the patio. Ours leaves the Levittown, PA kiln at under 15% moisture, heat treated to 160 degrees F at the core, roughly 60 miles from the Route 22 corridor.
Delivery options for Union County
- Mega Bag (1.75 cu ft): free UPS Ground, typically 1 to 2 business days; orders placed by noon ET ship the same day
- Premium Box (1.33 cu ft): free UPS Ground, a one-person carry for Summit condos and apartments along the Cranford and Westfield train blocks
- Palletized 1/4 and 1/2 cord: all of New Jersey sits inside our pallet delivery zone, so freight is scheduled with a lift gate to the driveway or curb, 2 to 3 business days outside peak weeks
- Bulk 15 Mega Bag pallet: includes 1 free 1.33 cu ft Box, the reorder size for a household that burns most weekends
There is no stacking service on any pallet order. The lift gate sets the load down where the truck can safely reach it, which on a narrow Cranford or Westfield street usually means the apron of the driveway rather than the back of the property.
Where the wood goes in Union County
- Summit and New Providence: older houses near the station with original masonry fireplaces. Wood under 15% moisture is the difference between a clean burn and a flue that needs sweeping twice a season.
- Westfield and Cranford: the biggest concentration of working fireplaces in the county, mostly in houses without a garage to spare. Packaged sizes get carried in one trip and stored indoors.
- Berkeley Heights and Mountainside: properties on the ridge along the Watchung Reservation, the county park these two towns border together with Scotch Plains and Summit. Bigger lots here, and the county's most common 1/2 cord addresses.
- Scotch Plains and Springfield: patio fire pits and outdoor fireplaces that start in September and run through the holidays, long before anyone lights the indoor hearth.
Order on the commuter calendar, not the weather app
Union County buys firewood the way it does everything else, on the way home. That works fine for packaged wood, which moves year round in 1 to 2 business days. It works badly for cords. Our freight calendar starts filling in mid October, and November and December pallet deliveries run longer than the usual 2 to 3 business days because every household on the corridor decided the same week. A 1/2 cord booked in late September lands while the driveway is still clear and the truck still has open slots. If you only burn on weekends, a few Mega Bags on free UPS is the more honest answer.
The New Jersey quarantine rule
New Jersey is under a statewide spotted lanternfly quarantine and an emerald ash borer quarantine, which is why the cheap seasoned cordwood sold off a Route 22 lot is a legal question as well as a moisture question. Untreated firewood is restricted from moving out of the quarantine area. Our USDA-certified kiln-dried firewood is heat treated to 160 degrees F at the core for 75 minutes and ships with a phytosanitary certificate on every order, so it stays compliant whether it goes in the fireplace at home or in the back of the car to a campsite.

FAQ
Which Union County towns do you cover?
All of them. Free UPS Ground on Boxes and Mega Bags reaches every ZIP, including Summit (07901), Westfield (07090), Cranford (07016), Berkeley Heights (07922), New Providence (07974), Scotch Plains (07076), Mountainside (07092) and Springfield (07081). Pallet freight reaches any address with curb or driveway access.
My street is narrow and I have no driveway apron. Will a pallet work?
Often yes, curbside, but it is worth thinking about first. If the truck cannot set a pallet down safely, order Mega Bags on free UPS Ground instead; four to six bags on one order covers a light-burning season without any freight logistics.
How much wood does a weekend fireplace actually need?
Less than most people order the first time. Work it out on the firewood calculator, and if the volume terms are the confusing part, the cord of firewood guide explains what a 1/4 cord looks like once it is off the pallet.
Is there a page closer to my town?
Yes, a few. Short Hills sits just over the Essex line, Bound Brook covers the Somerset side of Route 22, Newark handles the eastern end of the corridor, and the New Jersey hub covers statewide delivery.
