New York is our largest market by volume, with two completely different fulfillment patterns depending on where in the state you are. Manhattan, the rest of NYC, all of Long Island, Westchester, and the Hudson Valley down through ZIP 125 are inside our Local Delivery Zone, so palletized 1/2 cord, 1/4 cord, and 30-Mega-Bag pallets run daily. Manhattan is 90 miles from our Levittown, PA distribution facility, the Bronx 85, Queens 85, Brooklyn 80, Staten Island 70, Westchester 95, Poughkeepsie 110. Locations north or west of that line (Albany, Catskills, Adirondacks, Capital District, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo) are negotiated individually for pallet freight, or shipped same-day free UPS Ground on packaged Mega Bags and Boxes.

Who buys kiln-dried firewood in New York

NYC drives the largest single share of our state volume. The dominant customer profile in the five boroughs is the brownstone or pre-war condo fireplace user, concentrated in Park Slope 11215, Cobble Hill 11201, Brooklyn Heights 11201, Carroll Gardens 11231, Boerum Hill 11217, Prospect Heights 11238, Fort Greene 11205, and Clinton Hill 11238 in Brooklyn; the Upper East Side 10021 / 10028 / 10075, Upper West Side 10024 / 10025, West Village 10014, Tribeca 10013, and Harlem brownstones 10027 / 10031 in Manhattan. A second NYC profile is the rooftop and terrace fire-pit user in DUMBO, Williamsburg, and Long Island City. A third is the wood-fired restaurant and pizza account, concentrated in Williamsburg, Bushwick, the Lower East Side, and the Bronx.

Long Island demand splits between North Shore Gold Coast estate properties (Oyster Bay 11771, Cold Spring Harbor 11724, Locust Valley 11560, Lloyd Harbor 11743) and South Shore beach communities (Westhampton 11978, Bridgehampton 11932, East Hampton 11937, Sag Harbor 11963, Montauk 11954). Westchester demand clusters in Bronxville 10708, Scarsdale 10583, Chappaqua 10514, Bedford 10506, and Pound Ridge 10576. Upstate, Albany 12203, Saratoga Springs 12866, the Hudson Valley (Rhinebeck 12572, Hudson 12534, Beacon 12508), the Catskills (Phoenicia 12464, Woodstock 12498), and the Adirondacks all skew heavily toward primary-heat wood-stove households.

Kiln-dried matters in NY for both pest and storage reasons. The USDA APHIS spotted lanternfly quarantine in NY covers Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Queens, Richmond (Staten Island), Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Greene, Columbia, Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and most of the Hudson Valley. Emerald ash borer is confirmed in every NY county. Asian longhorn beetle eradication zones still operate in parts of Long Island and Brooklyn. NY State DEC enforces certified-wood rules at state campgrounds. Untreated wood from upstate cutters or out of state cannot be moved into or across the quarantine line.

Logistics for New York

Manhattan, all of NYC, all of Long Island (including the Hamptons), Westchester, and the Hudson Valley to ZIP 125 (Dutchess/Putnam) are inside our Local Delivery Zone. The 30-Mega-Bag pallet (~1/2 cord) and palletized 1/4, 1/2, and full cord all qualify, typically 1 to 2 business days from order with lift-gate curbside drop. We also run a NYC block-by-block delivery service for brownstones and walk-ups that need bags carried to a basement or stoop. Anything north or west of the Local Delivery Zone is quoted individually.

Upstate NY (Albany 170 mi from our distribution facility, Saratoga 200, Lake Placid 260, Rochester 320, Buffalo 380) sits outside the Local Delivery Zone. We can negotiate individual freight pallet quotes upstate for B2B and high-volume orders; otherwise packaged Mega Bags and Boxes ship free UPS Ground to every NY ZIP. Transit time is 1 business day to the Hudson Valley and Capital District, 2 business days to most of central and western NY, and 2 to 3 business days to the Adirondacks and Buffalo region. Same-day ship cutoff is noon ET.

New York-specific notes

Quarantine status. NY is one of the most quarantine-heavy states we serve. The USDA APHIS spotted lanternfly quarantine covers the entire NYC metro, Long Island, the Hudson Valley up to and including the Capital District, and stretches west along I-90 into the Finger Lakes. Emerald ash borer is statewide. Asian longhorn beetle eradication zones remain active in Brooklyn (Bath Beach area) and parts of Long Island. The NY DEC requires USDA-certified, heat-treated wood at all state campgrounds and forest preserve sites. Our USDA-certified kiln-dried firewood ships with phytosanitary documentation on request.

Where New York demand clusters. The NYC brownstone belt drives the largest concentration of orders: Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn Heights, Boerum Hill, the Upper East and Upper West Sides, the West Village, and Tribeca. Long Island Gold Coast pallet volume concentrates in Oyster Bay, Cold Spring Harbor, Lloyd Harbor, and the Locust Valley horse-country corridor. Westchester pallet volume centers on Bedford, Pound Ridge, Chappaqua, and Bronxville. The Hudson Valley packaged volume peaks in Rhinebeck, Hudson, Beacon, and Cold Spring. Catskills and Adirondack volume is wood-stove primary-heat, year-round.

Heating context. NYC averages around 4,800 heating degree days, Albany around 6,800, the Adirondacks well over 8,000. Brownstone fireplaces typically burn 1 to 2 cords per winter. Long Island and Westchester estate fireplaces burn 2 to 4. Hudson Valley and Catskill stove households burn 3 to 5. Adirondack primary-heat households burn 6 to 8 cords. NYC rooftop fire-pit accounts move 6 to 12 Mega Bags per season.

Recommendations for New York customers

For NYC brownstones, order a 1/4 cord pallet or 6 to 8 1.75 cu ft Mega Bags to start. For Long Island Gold Coast and Westchester estate accounts, the 1/2 cord pallet is the right unit, often two per winter. For Hudson Valley and Catskill stove households on UPS Ground, the 15 Mega Bag bulk pallet is the better economics. For rooftop fire pits in Williamsburg, LIC, or DUMBO, the 1.33 cu ft Box format clears elevators easier. See borough and city coverage at Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island, and Albany.

FAQ

Is it legal to bring firewood into New York?
Only if it is USDA APHIS heat-treated and certified. NY has an active statewide spotted lanternfly quarantine covering NYC, Long Island, Westchester, and most of the Hudson Valley, plus statewide EAB and active Asian longhorn beetle eradication zones. Our wood ships with phytosanitary documentation.

Can I get a pallet to my brownstone in Brooklyn or Manhattan?
Yes. We deliver pallets daily to NYC. For brownstones with no driveway, we can also schedule a block-and-carry service where the driver moves the bags to a stoop or basement. Email sales for stoop-carry pricing.

How fast is UPS Ground to upstate NY?
1 business day to the Hudson Valley and Capital District. 2 business days to most of central NY, the Finger Lakes, and Rochester. 2 to 3 business days to the Adirondacks and Buffalo.

How much firewood for an NYC winter?
NYC brownstone fireplaces typically burn 1 to 2 cords across a winter. Westchester and Long Island estate fireplaces burn 2 to 4. Upstate wood-stove primary-heat homes burn 3 to 8 cords depending on house size and climate zone.

Do you deliver to the Hamptons and Long Island?
Yes. Nassau and western Suffolk are inside our pallet zone. The Hamptons and eastern Suffolk are right at the zone edge; we quote freight pallets individually. Packaged Mega Bags via UPS Ground are available to every Long Island ZIP.

The kiln-dried difference

Moisture content is the whole game

Wet wood means smoke, creosote in your chimney, and roughly 30% less heat per log. We kiln-dry every piece to under 15% moisture so it lights with one match and burns clean. Order before noon ET and we ship the same day.
